Facts about Fusion

Fusion is a year-round activity, which was first launched by in 2009 in Czech Republic and Latvia. Since then it has spread and there are now also Fusion choirs in Estonia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.

Each Fusion is run by a local church, but is open to all teenagers. There are many opportunities for the teenagers to learn new skills, not only learning a new instrument, but also more practical skills such as  team work and how to organize weekends and events.

A brief look at what Fusion is and why it works.

In many places the Fusion projects and their volunteers have received awards and grants by City Halls in recognition of the transforming work it has done in the lives of teenagers who join the groups. In addition, the groups have a high level of street credibility amongst the youth.

Although Fusion looks like a music ministry, it is actually a relational minsitry, using music as a tool. In every rehearsal the teenage members hear a „devotion“ given by one of the leaders, but much of the life changing work of Fusion happens outside of the formal rehearsals.

  • Key values of Fusion

  •  Every Fusion is run by a local church with the active support of city halls. It enables churches to use their resources to help their local communities.

  • We work with teenagers using music and other media which are a part of their everyday lives, while challenging them to make wise choices about their media consumption. In addition, Fusion choirs often become a part of the cultural program of their city.

  • We are all born to be creative. Fusion seeks to enable teens to draw out hidden abilities, learn new talents, and use their creativity to the full. For some this could mean learning to play an instrument; for others organizing a concert or leading a weekend event.

  • We aim to be a place where teenagers can feel accepted for who and what they are. Only then can they live to their full potential.

  • Though Fusion is NOT a Christian choir for Christian teenagers and is open to any teenager, regardless of beliefs, it is a Christian-lead activity where teenagers can learn about Christianity so that they can make their own informed decision about whether this belief has something it can offer them.
